4-Day Casablanca to Marrakech Tour via Rabat, Meknes and Fes

Four days through Morocco's royal cities: Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis and Fes, finishing in Marrakech. Private, flexible and history-rich.

  • 4 days
  • Casablanca → Marrakech
  • Private
  • From TT$ 3,820 (€500) per person

Overview

Flying into Casablanca and out of Marrakech? This 4-day Casablanca to Marrakech tour turns the transfer between the two into a journey through Morocco’s imperial history. You visit the Hassan II Mosque, the capital Rabat, the Roman city of Volubilis, the royal gates of Meknes and the medieval medina of Fes, then cross the Middle Atlas to reach Marrakech.

The tour is private, with your own English-speaking driver for all four days. A local guide walks you through Fes, where the medina is a maze of more than nine thousand lanes, workshops and tanneries. Elsewhere, your driver gives you time to explore and recommends where to eat.

It is ideal for a first trip focused on culture, or as the opening chapter before a few days on your own in Marrakech. Want to add the Sahara? Look at the 6-day Casablanca desert tour, which follows a similar route with a night in a desert camp. Superior accommodation is available on every night of this trip.

Highlights

  • Hassan II Mosque on the Atlantic
  • Rabat's kasbah, Hassan Tower and royal mausoleum
  • Roman mosaics at Volubilis (UNESCO)
  • Bab Mansour gate and the imperial city of Meknes
  • Full guided day in the Fes medina with a local guide
  • Cedar forests and villages of the Middle Atlas

Itinerary

  1. Day 1 Casablanca – Hassan II Mosque – Rabat

Pickup at your hotel or at Mohammed V Airport. Begin with a guided visit of the Hassan II Mosque, built over the ocean with a minaret that towers above the city. After lunch, drive about an hour to Rabat. Explore the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum, then stroll the riverside as the light softens. If you landed on an overnight flight, your driver can shorten the visits and take you to your hotel early. Dinner and overnight in Rabat, a calm city that is a good place to recover from your flight.

Overnight: Hotel or riad in Rabat Meals: Dinner

  2. Day 2 Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fes

Head inland through farmland to Meknes, one of the four imperial cities. Admire the monumental Bab Mansour gate and the El Hedim square, and see the royal granaries if time allows. Continue to Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman site in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where mosaic floors, a triumphal arch and columns stand among olive groves. A local guide at the site is recommended (payable there). In the late afternoon, drive on to Fes and check in to your riad inside or near the old medina.

Overnight: Riad in Fes Meals: Breakfast, dinner

  3. Day 3 Fes guided medina visit

Spend the day with a local guide in Fes el-Bali, the old walled medina and a UNESCO site. Enter through the Blue Gate, Bab Boujloud, and follow the guide through lanes of coppersmiths, weavers and spice stalls. Look into the courtyard of the Bou Inania madrasa, glimpse the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque and university from its doorway, and view the famous Chouara tannery from a terrace above the dye pits. In the afternoon, visit the royal palace gates and the panoramic viewpoint over the city. Evening at leisure.

Overnight: Riad in Fes Meals: Breakfast, dinner

  4. Day 4 Fes – Middle Atlas – Beni Mellal – Marrakech

A long and scenic travel day. Leave Fes after breakfast and climb into the Middle Atlas, passing the alpine-style town of Ifrane and cedar forests where Barbary macaques often wait by the road. Descend through Berber villages to Beni Mellal, at the foot of the mountains, for lunch. In the afternoon the landscape flattens into olive groves and plains as you reach Marrakech, where your driver drops you at your hotel or riad in the early evening. End of the tour.

Overnight: — (tour ends in Marrakech) Meals: Breakfast

Is this Casablanca to Marrakech tour right for you?

Pickup: in the morning in Casablanca, adapted to your arrival time. Pace: moderate, with one long driving day (about 7–8 hours plus stops) from Fes to Marrakech. What to bring: modest clothing for the mosque, comfortable walking shoes for the medinas, a warm layer for the Middle Atlas in winter, and cash for entrance fees and lunches.

Who it suits: culture lovers, families with older children and first-time visitors who prefer cities to the desert. It is also a smart way to use an open-jaw ticket: fly into Casablanca on a nonstop from the US and fly home from Marrakech via Europe.

Moroccan journey

My family and I planned our own 10-day itinerary in Morocco. We hired a car with a driver to travel with us and enjoy everything Morocco has to offer. Salem, our driver, was a great person: kind, always available, and not just our driver — he suggested things to do, places to see and where to stay, and explained his traditions and culture…

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a guide in Fes?

We include one for the Fes medina because it is the easiest way to see the highlights without getting lost. In the other cities your driver gives you directions and tips, and local guides can be added on request.

Can the tour end in Casablanca instead of Marrakech?

Yes. We can bring you back to Casablanca, but this changes the route and usually adds driving time. Contact us and we will suggest the best version for your flight home.

Can I go inside the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque?

Non-Muslims cannot enter the prayer hall, but you can look into the courtyard from the doorway. Your guide will show you the best spots, including nearby madrasas that are open to visitors.

Is the drive from Fes to Marrakech long?

Yes, it is the longest day of the trip, roughly 7 to 8 hours with stops. The scenery through the Middle Atlas makes it pass quickly, and your driver stops whenever you need a break.

What does the superior upgrade change?

You stay in more charming riads and hotels with extra comfort and better locations. You can select it when booking and see the updated price per person immediately.

Any questions about this tour?

Send us a message, no commitment: we reply personally, usually within 24 hours. We can also adapt the route to your dates.
