Figuring out how to get to Morocco from this side of the Atlantic is simpler than most people think. As of October 2026, there are nonstop flights from four US cities to Casablanca, and the flight from New York is shorter than a trip from New York to Hawaii. From Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago you will connect once, usually in Miami, New York or London. Below are the routes, flight times, transit rules and what happens after you land. Schedules change, so always confirm with the airline.
Nonstop flights to Morocco from the US
Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco’s national airline, runs every nonstop between the US and Morocco. All of them land in Casablanca Mohammed V Airport (CMN), RAM’s hub, where you can connect to Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Agadir and other Moroccan cities.
| From | To | Approx. flight time | Notes (as of October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York JFK | Casablanca | ~7 h | The busiest US route, overnight eastbound |
| Washington Dulles (IAD) | Casablanca | ~7.5 h | Good for travelers from the mid-Atlantic and the South |
| Miami (MIA) | Casablanca | ~8 h | The natural gateway for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean |
| Los Angeles (LAX) | Casablanca | ~11 h | Launched June 2026, three weekly flights on a Boeing 787 |
RAM also flies nonstop from Montreal and Toronto. Eastbound flights from the East Coast usually leave in the evening and land early the next morning, so you arrive with a full day ahead. Plan it as a gentle one.
How to get to Morocco from Puerto Rico
From San Juan (SJU), the easiest plan is a domestic flight to Miami or New York, then the RAM nonstop to Casablanca. Since Puerto Rico to the mainland is a domestic flight, there is no immigration on the way out. US citizens also need no visa for Morocco. Aim for one ticket that covers the whole trip, or leave at least four to five hours between flights if you book separately, because a delay from San Juan would otherwise cost you the transatlantic flight.
Alternative routes go via Madrid (Iberia) or other European hubs, which can be handy if you want to add a few days in Spain.
How to get to Morocco from Jamaica
There are no direct flights from Kingston (KIN) or Montego Bay (MBJ) to Morocco. Your main options:
- Via Miami: a short hop to MIA, then the RAM nonstop to Casablanca. This is usually the fastest overall, but you need a valid US visa, because there is no airside transit in the US.
- Via New York JFK: same logic, more frequencies to choose from, same US visa requirement.
- Via London: fly to London (British Airways has served Kingston from Gatwick, so check current schedules), then take one of the many daily flights from London airports to Marrakech or other Moroccan cities, which take roughly three and a half hours. Jamaican citizens need a UK visa, and usually a transit visa even if you never leave the airport. Check gov.uk before you book.
Remember that Jamaican passport holders also need a Moroccan visa or e-Visa. A valid US or UK visa in your passport may make you eligible for the faster e-Visa. Our Morocco visa guide explains exactly how.
How to get to Morocco from Trinidad and Tobago
From Port of Spain (POS), the routes are similar:
- Via Miami or New York to connect with RAM to Casablanca. A US visa is required for the connection.
- Via London, then on to Marrakech, Casablanca or Tangier. Since 2025, Trinidad and Tobago nationals need a visa for the UK, including a Direct Airside Transit Visa to change planes there.
Because both transit hubs require a visa for T&T passports, choose the one where you already hold a visa. If you have a valid US B1/B2 visa, Miami is usually simplest. That same US visa can also make you eligible for Morocco’s e-Visa.
Transit checklist for Caribbean passports
| Connecting in | US / Puerto Rico passport | Jamaican passport | T&T passport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miami / New York | No visa | US visa required | US visa required |
| London | No visa (ETA may apply) | UK visa or transit visa | UK visa or transit visa |
| Madrid / Paris / Lisbon | No visa (check the EU’s ETIAS timeline) | Check Schengen transit rules | Visa-free for Schengen short stays |
Rules as of October 2026. Always confirm with the transit country’s official website and your airline before you buy tickets.
From Spain and Europe: flights and ferries
Many travelers combine Morocco with Spain or Portugal. From Madrid, a nonstop to Marrakech takes about 1 hour 50 minutes, and low-cost and full-service airlines link dozens of European cities with Marrakech, Fes, Tangier and Agadir. You can also cross by sea:
- Tarifa–Tangier (port in the city): roughly an hour on the fast ferry, which lands right next to the medina.
- Algeciras–Tanger Med: more frequent sailings, but Tanger Med is about 45 km from Tangier city.
Arriving in Tangier? Our 7-day tour from Tangier to Marrakech runs through Chefchaouen, Fes and the Sahara.
Which Moroccan airport should you fly into?
- Casablanca (CMN): where all nonstops from the Americas land. Ideal for a circuit through Rabat, Chefchaouen and Fes, and a perfect start for our 8-day Casablanca to Marrakech tour.
- Marrakech (RAK): reached via Casablanca or Europe. Best if you want to start with Marrakech, the Atlas and the desert.
- Fes (FEZ): good for northern routes and the Sahara via the Middle Atlas.
- Tangier (TNG): best for the north and for combining with Spain.
An “open jaw” ticket, arriving in Casablanca and departing from Marrakech or the other way around, saves you a day of backtracking.
Arriving at Casablanca airport: what to expect
After landing you walk to passport control, where lines can be long when several long-haul flights arrive together in the early morning. Have your passport, return ticket, first accommodation address and, if you need one, your printed e-Visa in hand. Officers may ask how long you are staying and where. After baggage claim, your bags go through a quick customs scanner. The arrivals hall has ATMs, exchange desks and SIM card counters, so you can get dirhams and mobile data in one stop. Our guide to money in Morocco explains which options are best. Only accept rides from your pre-booked driver or the official taxi rank, not from touts in the hall.
Getting from Casablanca airport onward
From CMN you can take a train into Casablanca and on to Rabat, Fes or Marrakech, a domestic RAM flight, or a pre-booked transfer. Marrakech is about a three-hour drive or a slightly shorter train ride. After an overnight flight, many of our guests prefer a private transfer straight to their riad with a driver waiting at arrivals. We can arrange it as part of any of our Morocco tours.
Beating jet lag
As of October 2026, Morocco is 5 hours ahead of Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago, 6 hours ahead of Jamaica, 5 or 6 hours ahead of New York and 8 or 9 hours ahead of Los Angeles, depending on US daylight saving time. During Ramadan Morocco moves its clocks back one hour, which in 2027 is expected around mid-February to mid-March.
- Sleep as much as you can on the eastbound overnight flight.
- Stay outside in daylight on day one and go to bed at local time.
- Avoid the long Tizi n’Tichka mountain drive on your arrival day. Day 2 is better.
Booking tips
- Compare RAM’s own site with booking engines, and check baggage allowances on every leg.
- Prefer one ticket for the whole journey, so the airline is responsible if you miss a connection.
- Check visa and transit rules for every country you touch, not just Morocco.
- Book spring and October trips two to three months ahead.
